They Built A Home In A Hill. One Step Inside, And My Jaw Instantly Dropped

Villa Vals is one of the newest architecture ventures from Christian Miller Architects and SeARCH. Located inside a slope in Vals, Switzerland, the goal of the project was to design a house that was almost entirely hidden.
By creating an extended patio built directly within a hill, this house provides an excellent view of the Alpine Slopes. Utilizing a large number of strategically placed windows, the architecture is designed to receive a large amount of natural light despite the odd positioning of the building.
A set of stone steps lead up to the extended patio of the house. The front of the house is entirely round, adding to the incredibly unique nature of the architecture.
The circular patio offers a perfect 360 degree view of the Alpine Slopes surrounding this house.

Going deeper into the house, staircases lead to more rooms featuring walls made of layered stone.

The circular entrance creates a perfect window into the Alpine Slopes. The slight incline of the house allows it to be perfectly angled for the perfect view at all times, even during the heavy winter snow.

Kenya nationwide blackout caused by rogue monkey

A single monkey caused a nationwide blackout in Kenya after falling on to a crucial piece of equipment.
The monkey fell on a transformer at the Gitaru hydroelectric power station on Tuesday, electricity provider KenGen said in a statement.
The transformer then tripped, resulting in the loss of 180 megawatts of power and triggering a blackout across Kenya.
Power was restored almost four hours later and the monkey survived its adventure, KenGen said.
It has now been taken in by the Kenya Wildlife Service.
"KenGen power installations are secured by electric fencing which keeps away marauding wild animals," the statement said.
"We regret this isolated incident and the company is looking at ways of further enhancing security at all our power plants."
The Business Daily Africa website reported that businesses bore the brunt of Tuesday's blackout.
Many had installed generators as a result of previous blackouts, it said.

Furious Belgian smashes outgoing boyfriend's car with guitar

A luxury car, an acoustic guitar and personal dignity were the immediate casualties of a messy break-up in the Belgian city of Diest, which proved an irresistible piece of street theatre for passers-by.

Camera-phones were quickly trained on the female half of the cashed-up couple when she climbed on her outgoing beau's whip and started laying into it with his axe.
Notably, the windscreen smashes in quite easily, while the guitar stays in one piece.
Must be spruce – which is more than you can say for the pair's whole act.

Drunk Englishman has painful encounter with leprechaun tourist trap

A drunk Englishman on a weekend away in Ireland has become a viral sensation after he redefined the phrase "tourist trap" at a souvenir stand.
Middlewich local Danny Melody found himself in a jam when he stuck his "big head" through a novelty photograph board during a trip to Dublin for his 21st birthday.
His mates were in hysterics as he struggled to extricate himself, his face turning beet-red in stark contrast to the clover-green of the leprechaun daubed on the board.
It seems that Danny's elven hearing equipment was the main source of his predicament, and while he eventually managed to get free, his ears smarted for quite some time afterwards.

"It did really hurt when my ears had to be squashed through, the board was tight and they started to really swell up, my face was going red," he told The Mirror.
Before and after...Danny Melody won't soon forget his 21st. (Facebook)
"They were still sore four days later, and I had to spend the rest of the holiday with bright red ears - it was definitely my ears that were my biggest downfall that day."
Needless to say, Danny's mates were less than sympathetic, despite the birthday boy's concern that he would have to be cut free.
"My friends were all laughing at me and taking photos, but loads of people walking past started to do it as well - it was as if I was a freak show.
"I was quite drunk at the time so I wasn't that embarrassed, but I am now looking back at it."
The only person more worried than Danny was, perhaps, the fellow running the photo stand, who made amends by giving the lads their pictures for free.
Video of Danny's predicament has been viewed more than 3 million times

Wannabe viral star almost scalps herself with cob of corn

A young Asian woman who hungered for viral stardom has got her wish, but not in the fashion she might have hoped.

Attempting to replicate yet another internet "challenge" that proves stupidity is indeed contagious, the woman set out to eat a large ear of corn attached to the end of a power drill.

Given the stunt she was undertaking, it's not especially surprising the girl neglected to tie back her long hair.
A lock of which soon becomes tangled on the cob a few seconds after the drill starts spinning.
Realising about the same time as the person operating the tool that she is about to be scalped by a piece of cereal, the "challenge" is aborted – but not before the corn harvests a significant patch of her hair.
Recently made famous by YouTuber "Eater Yang", an entity who proves that humankind's decadence has indeed reached critical mass, the idea of the stunt is to try and demolish a cob of corn in under 10 seconds.
Unfortunately for this young lady, she demolished any chance of wearing a fringe in about six seconds, and while her hair will grow back eventually, the video of her losing it isn't going away anytime soon.
